Gallagher Scores Career High in Bloomsburg University Win

BLOOMSBURG--Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) scored a career-high 24 points to lead Bloomsburg University to a 74-32 win over Columbia Union on Wednesday night.

After Gallagher put the Huskies up 2-0 with a jumper just 13 seconds into the game, Columbia Union took its only lead of the game on a three-pointer from Erin Duffie just 20 seconds later. From that point on it was all Bloomsburg.

The Huskies went on a 27-0 run led by nine points from Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) and eight from Gallagher to take a 29-3 lead. The Lady Pioneers finally broke the big run with a basket by Willona Johnson with 10:24 left in the first half.

Leading 39-10 at halftime, the Huskies took their biggest lead of the game at 48 points (68-20) with 5:33 to go in the game on a layup by Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton Area) before settling for the 42-point win.

Gallagher hit six three-pointers among her nine shots made and also had seven rebounds. Joyce scored 14, while Steph Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) and Angela Mensch (Royersford/Spring-Ford) each added 10. For Mensch it was also a career-high. Columbia Union, 0-16, got 14 points from Kayla Harrison.

Bloomsburg, 8-3, hosts Gannon on Saturday at 1 p.m.
